Rumax has been manufacturing feed production equipment for 25 years with farmers’ input at the forefront of their designs.

The owner of BJP Supplies/Rumax, Jaco Pieters, explains that he started the business 25 years ago in his backyard. He was involved with the farming community in the Western Cape and noticed a need among farmers for equipment that could simplify the feed production process.

In 2000, he sold his first feed mixer.

Since then, Rumax has gone from strength to strength. Today, they manufacture feed mixers, hammer mills, pellet machines, manure spreaders, and mechanical cutting blades.

Everything is designed and built in-house at their factory, and Jaco says that while each machine is based on a core design, not all farmers have the same needs — so Rumax can customise your machine to suit your requirements.

“The input from farmers is really what shapes the product. It’s important for us to listen to farmers, because they’re the ones working with these machines every day,” Jaco adds.

Feed mixers

Rumax manufactures concentrate and total mixed ration (TMR) feed mixers in various sizes with a range of custom features.

Their concentrate mixers start at half a tonne and go up to two tonnes. They can be built on wheels, powered by a PTO or run electrically.

Since many people are switching to solar power, they also offer the half-tonne version of this mixer in single-phase.

These mixers deliver a thorough mix in only three minutes, and the Rumax 15, Rumax 9, and Rumax 7 can even handle round bales thanks to their excellent cutting and mixing performance.

Pellet machines and hammer mills

Rumax also builds a 4 kW hammer mill as a single-phase machine for those using solar power.

Their other hammer mills are dust-free and come in 7,5 kW, 11 kW, 22 kW, and 30 kW models. They also manufacture an 11 kW pellet machine capable of producing approximately 500 kg/h.

Manure spreaders

Their manure spreaders also come in smaller models designed for table grape production. These spreaders fit under vineyard canopies. There are also options suited for fruit orchards and vineyards.
