In a world where innovation meets agriculture, Agri Precision fulfils farmers’ needs with its unwavering commitment to delivering cutting-edge technology to the South African farming industry.

Frazer McDonald, a maize farmer from the Viljoenskroon district in the Free State, founded Agri Precision in 2021 with a vision of precision farming that benefits farmers both efficiently and economically.

Agri Precision’s latest launch is the DJI Agras T50, a drone designed for aerial precision spraying and crop care.

A plan takes flight

Frazer explains that the idea for alternative spraying methods arose during an unusually heavy rainfall cycle.

“Traditional methods became problematic as our tractors and self-propelled sprayers got stuck. This meant farmers could not spray when pests required it, even when the weather allowed. But as the saying goes, ‘A farmer makes a plan’ — and that is how Agri Precision was born.”

The Agras T50 – Power, precision, and performance

The DJI Agras T50 is a powerhouse in aerial agricultural technology. Equipped with a dual-rotor drive system, this drone handles heavy payloads: up to 40 litres for spraying and 50 kilograms for spreading. Farmers can now achieve new levels of efficiency with the T50’s impressive high flow rate — up to 16 litres per minute for spraying and 108 kilograms per minute for spreading. This high-capacity performance ensures quicker, more efficient applications over vast fields, reducing time and labour costs for farmers.

Frazer says: “This has revolutionized the agricultural drone market with greater load capacity, longer battery life, and an intelligent flight system, making it more efficient while still easy to use.”

From surveying fields to applying sprays, this drone ensures even and accurate coverage with a stable, consistent operation. Its advanced obstacle detection technology also allows it to seamlessly adapt to changing terrain, ensuring safety and efficiency even in challenging conditions.

“The T50 is more than capable, but it is designed to fill a specific gap rather than replace any existing system in the market. When used correctly, it is a valuable addition to any farming practice,” Frazer explains.

Precision and flexibility at every turn

Agri Precision is more than just an aerial service provider; they are a trusted partner in the farming community, dedicated to improving productivity and protecting crops.

The T50’s advanced design includes options for automatic and manual operation, as well as an Orchard Mode Variable Rate Application feature, making it versatile for diverse landscapes and crop types.

For added precision, the T50’s four-sprinkler system enables reverse-direction spraying, achieving an impressive flow rate of 24 litres per minute, making it perfect for larger or denser crop areas.

Signal stability is another key feature of the T50 drone, boasting an O3 video transmission range of two kilometres, with optional DJI Relay support for uninterrupted online operation.

This reliable connectivity ensures that even in remote locations, the drone performs consistently, giving farmers confidence in the coverage and accuracy of every flight.

Frazer explains: “This system allows us to spray more hectares per hour efficiently and cost-effectively, significantly improving our market efficiency. I can confidently say that the intelligent flight system of the new T50 has made the biggest difference in our farming operation.”

Environmental benefits for farmers

Frazer highlights several environmental benefits of using drones on the farm. “First, they reduce chemical usage through precision application and targeted spraying. They also enhance resource management, leading to water conservation and more efficient fertiliser use. Drones can improve soil health by preventing erosion and supporting optimal cultivation practices. Additionally, they contribute to a lower carbon footprint by reducing fuel consumption and improving field efficiency.

Drones assist with biodiversity conservation, targeted pest control, habitat monitoring, and sustainable farming practices, while also minimizing waste and promoting crop rotation. In short, drones are a valuable tool in advancing environmentally friendly agriculture.”

Outstanding service, expertise, and safety

Agri Precision takes pride in having qualified, experienced pilots who prioritize exceptional flight planning and safety, ensuring that every flight is conducted with the utmost care. Customers receive not only precise applications but also access to secure, legal, and insured aerial data and imagery. Every aspect of Agri Precision’s service is fine-tuned to meet farmers’ needs, helping them protect, treat, and maintain crop health with maximum efficiency.
