Agri Afrika’s stand at NAMPO always showcases new and interesting implements to make farmers’ lives easier, and this year was no different. The company proudly introduced their new Legend Silo Bagger and Legend Cross Till at the show.

Agri Afrika’s new Legend Silo Bagger.

The Legend Silo Bagger

This machine is used to store products such as maize, soybeans, sunflower and wheat in a long “sausage-shaped” format. The Silo Bagger features a clever bagging mechanism that lifts the bag at the rear. The grain is fed in from the top, and the inlet chute has a convenient slope so that your grain cart can easily unload the crops.

The lifting mechanism lowers all the way to the ground, allowing you to lift the bag right to the top. The feeding mechanism is installed at an angle to ensure that any rainwater drains away immediately.

Agri Afrika is also one of the only manufacturers that uses a drum brake system on the axle. This system is hydraulically controlled to regulate the pressure inside the bag precisely. It is a simple manual hydraulic system that is pumped up to achieve the required pressure before being shut off with a tap.

The Silo Bagger is equipped with 717 mm tyres – among the largest on the market – to provide additional braking ability and ensure maximum compression inside the bag.

Another unique feature is the hydraulic cylinder that helps set the machine correctly into its working position. When you want to move the machine, you simply shorten the cylinder; this lifts the entire machine so that it can easily be moved around.

The machine uses 3 m bags (9 feet), has an unloading capacity of 500 tonnes per hour, and requires a 45 kW tractor to tow it.

The Legend Cross Till

Another exciting newcomer is the Legend Cross Till soil cultivator. The machine was designed after customers indicated that they were looking for an implement capable of handling vertical, minimum and conventional tillage.

The name reveals exactly what it does: it moves across the spectrum between vertical and conventional tillage.

The Legend Cross Till has a level indicator to set the machine as parallel as possible.

The Cross Till has a level indicator to set the machine as parallel as possible. The cutting depth can conveniently be hydraulically adjusted forwards and backwards from the tractor cab.

One of the most exciting features is the 56 cm (22 inch) curved discs, also known as “razor” discs. The machine has a working depth of 0 mm to 225 mm.

By changing the angle of the machine, you can effortlessly switch between conventional, minimum-till and no-till practices.

The discs of the new Legend Cross Till are curved, and the angle at which the discs are set determines whether it is used as a conventional, minimum-till or no-till machine.

When the disc angle is set to zero degrees, for example, the machine cuts the crop residue and leaves it lying on top of the soil. For more vertical tillage, the angle can be adjusted to three degrees, which pins the residue into the soil and prepares an even seedbed. With conventional tillage, weeds can also be removed effectively.

The discs are set according to the required tillage method: between zero and three degrees for vertical tillage, between three and six degrees for minimum tillage, and from six degrees upwards for conventional tillage.

The Cross Till can operate directly behind the combine harvester to incorporate material, and is also ideal for lime correction applications. Agri Afrika has developed a unique, versatile 3-in-1 implement that meets every farmer’s needs.

Because it is a high-speed machine, the discs are deliberately spaced far apart. This allows the first cut to take place and the material to settle before the second cutting action follows.

Agri Afrika’s new Legend Cross Till has rakes that mix the soil and place the residue on top of the soil.

The Legend Cross Till also has rakes that mix the soil and place the residue on top of the soil. At the rear are cylinders connected to a double roller system, allowing you to adjust soil pressure.

The rollers on the new Legend Cross Till can be lifted when it is used in soft soils where compaction is not required.

This means you can consolidate the soil afterwards, or hydraulically lift the rollers when working in very sandy soils where compaction is not needed. You also always have the option to work with either a single or double roller.
