Visitors to Val Boeredag had the opportunity to experience the all-new CLAAS AXION 9, designed to tackle the most demanding implements with impressive power, hydraulic performance and fuel efficiency.
According to Dustin Bishop, CLAAS Product Manager at Kempston Agri, the event provided the ideal platform to introduce a tractor that has been in development for six years.
“The expectation has finally become reality,” Dustin said. “CLAAS spent years researching exactly what farmers expect from a tractor in this horsepower class, and the AXION 9 is the result.”
Designed with both performance and operator comfort in mind, the AXION 9 introduces several major improvements over previous models.
Built for demanding conditions
One of the most noticeable features of the AXION 9 is its large VF (Very High Flexion) tyres. The demonstration unit was equipped with 750/70 R44 tyres at the rear and 650/60 R38 tyres at the front, giving the tractor a minimum of three meters of rear tyre width on the ground with the dual tyre set up.
This allows the tractor to minimise soil compaction while maintaining excellent traction, even in challenging field conditions.
Powerful hydraulic performance
The hydraulic system has also received a substantial upgrade. The AXION 9 delivers 370 litres per minute of hydraulic flow through six rear spool valves, with 100-litre priority flow available for demanding hydraulic functions. This makes the tractor ideally suited for operating large planters and other high-capacity implements requiring significant hydraulic performance.
New cab, more comfort
Operator comfort has been another major focus during development. The completely redesigned cab is approximately 30% larger than the previous generation and features a new layout, improved visibility, upgraded controls and the latest CEBIS Connect operating system.
The integrated guidance system allows operators to customise screen layouts for ISOBUS functions, precision farming applications and guidance, creating a user-friendly working environment.
Comfort is further enhanced through multiple suspension systems, including:
- Front axle suspension
- Cab suspension
- ISRI premium seat suspension
- Rear linkage suspension
- Front linkage suspension
Together, these systems deliver an exceptionally smooth ride during long working days.
The completely redesigned cab is approximately 30% larger than its predecessor and features the latest CEBIS Connect operating system, offering improved comfort, visibility and intuitive machine control.
Efficient driveline
The AXION 9 features a completely new drive controller developed at the CLAAS Paderborn factory in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Sharing technology with the larger XERION range, the new driveline has been engineered to deliver improved power transfer together with excellent fuel efficiency.
The tractor also benefits from upgraded cooling systems and an entirely new exterior design.
Improved visibility
For operators working long hours after dark, CLAAS has introduced a completely new LED lighting package. The 360-degree lighting system provides approximately double the illumination of previous models, improving visibility and safety during night operations.

Award-winning design
Adding to the tractor’s credentials, the AXION 9 was awarded the Tractor of the Year 2025 title in the high-horsepower category at Agritechnica, the world’s leading trade fair for agricultural machinery.
“This award reflects the six years of development that went into this machine,” Dustin explained. “It is something every manufacturer strives for, and we are proud that the AXION 9 has received this recognition.”
A successful Val Boeredag
Dustin also thanked the organisers, exhibitors and farmers who attended what he described as one of the biggest Val Boeredag events he has experienced.
