Every successful business has a story. For Frits Kroon Transport (FKT), that story is one of determination, resilience and growth. Established in 1999 by Frits Kroon, the company began with Frits himself behind the wheel. In those early years, he not only drove the trucks, but also serviced them, handled the administration and ensured every load was delivered safely.

Today, more than two decades later, that one-man operation has grown into a market-leading business with offices in Pretoria, Durban, Windhoek (Namibia), Kitwe (Zambia) and Ghazi (Botswana). With over 25 years of experience, FKT has established itself as a leader in abnormal transport, clearing, forwarding and supplies across the Southern African continent.

“Over the years we’ve been blessed and grown to where we are today, operating in 11 countries with more than 20 abnormal load trucks,” says Frits Kroon.

Specialists in abnormal loads, with a broad offering

While abnormal load transport remains FKT’s core specialty, their services extend far beyond. They serve the mining, construction, renewable energy, engineering and agricultural industries and also provide solutions for project cargo and bulk loads.

What it takes to move abnormal loads

Moving an abnormal load is far more complex than just putting a truck on the road—it is a highly coordinated operation.

“Through decades of experience and a dedicated team, we have perfected the process,” says Frits Kroon.

Large-scale projects begin with meticulous route planning. This includes engineering assessments to compile comprehensive route surveys, followed by the acquisition of permits and where necessary, clearance certificates. In some cases, coordination with utilities such as Telkom and Eskom is required to temporarily lift overhead cables to allow safe passage.

Most loads are supported by a our fleet of escort vehicles. Bigger loads often mandate police escorts to guide convoys safely through cities and towns. The process is overseen by FKT’s highly experienced operations team, who remain in constant communication with drivers and escorts. Their role is to anticipate potential obstacles, mitigate risks in real time and provide customers with live tracking and progress updates.

Behind every successful move stands a strong service team. By maintaining and servicing our trucks on a strict schedule, FKT reduces the risk of breakdowns, ensuring reliability, saving customers valuable time and safeguarding the success of each project.
