During this year’s NAMPO, John Deere once again showed why the brand remains deeply rooted in the South African agricultural industry. With an impressive display of new technology, improved equipment and precision solutions, the focus was clearly on increased productivity, smarter farming and better operator comfort.
The positive attitude of farmers at NAMPO stood out for John Deere.
For John Deere, NAMPO is the place where you can gauge the mood of farmers, and it was wonderful to welcome happy farmers at their exhibition.
The theme of John Deere at this year’s NAMPO was: “Deeply rooted, with true value” – a message that beautifully captures the company’s history as well as its vision for the future. A vision they aim to build on by bringing the latest technology to South Africa.
A few highlights and new additions
John Deere introduced several new products and upgrades to farmers this year. One of the most notable machines was the new 3E and 3EN series tractors (36 to 41 horsepower), designed for compact working environments where efficiency and versatility are essential.
Farmers were also able to view the upgraded 5090E up close. The updated 5090E (90 horsepower) tractor offers improved lifting capacity, different loader configurations and JDLink readiness, enabling better connectivity and fleet management.
Another major attraction was the new F8 self-propelled forage harvester equipped with a JD14X 13,6-litre PowerTech engine and HarvestMotion technology. This combination contributes to improved fuel efficiency, better silage quality and increased operator comfort.
Precision farming also received strong attention at this year’s show. John Deere once again displayed its 24-row DB44 planter, which can be equipped with MaxEmerge 5E or ExactEmerge row units, as well as individual hydraulic row downforce control. With SeedStar 5 monitoring and JDLink integration, farmers can monitor planting performance in real time from a mobile device or tablet.
Technology and data-driven farming are no longer a luxury but a necessity for modern farmers.
Precision farming is the way forward – producing more with less – and John Deere shows farmers what this technology already does and the results it delivers. The specialised John Deere team is always available to show farmers how these solutions can improve their operations.
John Deere also demonstrated how existing equipment can be upgraded with new technology through Performance Upgrade Kits for planters ranging from six to 16 rows. This allows farmers to equip older planters with modern planting technology without necessarily purchasing a new planter.
Although the new 8R and 8RX high-horsepower tractors will only be available next year, they have already attracted significant interest. These tractors deliver up to 634 hp (473 kW) and feature a variable electric transmission.
In addition to the impressive equipment and displays, visitors also attended various talks and information sessions at the John Deere stand, where product specialists and factory representatives shared more about new developments, technology and the company’s future vision.
