LiuGong is making its mark in South Africa in a significant way. During the recent NAMPO Harvest Day Expo, LiuGong machines were showcased at the ELB Equipment and CES Forklifts stands. ELB Equipment is the South African partner and distributor for LiuGong earthmoving machinery, while CES Forklifts represents LiuGong’s forklift range.

This wasn’t the first year LiuGong machines appeared at NAMPO, but it may have been one of the most noteworthy. Interest in the Chinese manufacturer’s machines is on the rise, partly because LiuGong is the only manufacturer in South Africa offering fully electric earthmoving equipment.

Going green is one of the company’s main goals, and the familiar yellow machines may soon be joined by greener, eco-friendly counterparts.

ELB Equipment is driving this transition aggressively, with the 856HE electric wheel loader taking the spotlight at NAMPO. With a 3,5 m³ bucket capacity, 19615  kg operating weight, 160 kW battery power and 350 kWh battery capacity, this machine is as tough as any conventional loader, and in many cases, it outperforms them. Beyond its electric power, it offers an intelligent, human-centric design for operator comfort, zero fuel usage, zero emissions, and reduced noise and vibration.

Of course, LiuGong’s diesel‑powered machines remain among the world’s leading earthmoving solutions. They combine world-class engineering, bulletproof structural design and low cost of ownership. At the CES Forklifts stand, visitors explored LiuGong’s diesel and battery‑powered forklift range, from the compact CPCD30 to the robust CPCD70, and the electric CPD25E and CPD35EM

LiuGong also appealed to the farming community with its LT2004-T tractor. This high-horsepower 4WD tractor is built for continuous fieldwork and heavy-duty jobs. It features a 6.8-litre, 6-cylinder turbocharged Yuchai YCA07 engine, delivering 147 kW at 2 200 rpm with net power up to 169 kW depending on the setup. With a 300 -litre fuel , maximum rear lift capacity of 65.9 kN, and an operating weight of 9 100 kg, it’s engineered for endurance. The fully enclosed, pressurised cab offers climate control to keep dust and heat out, while a 12-light LED package ensures visibility work at night.
