Dalton Farmers’ Day had a brand-new look this year – Fendt made its first appearance at the event, and farmers couldn’t stop talking about the tractors’ comfort, technology, and performance.
Practical in the field
Although the day is primarily an appreciation event where Farm Maintenance Services (FMS) thanks farmers for their support, it also gives them the perfect opportunity to get hands-on experience by working with the implements and driving the tractors in the field.
Several farmers expressed their excitement as they got behind the wheel of the 724 Vario and 720.
Gerald Niebuhr, a farmer from the area, says: “We’re excited to welcome the Fendt tractors to our area, as we’ve never seen them here before. I’m curious to see what they could mean for our region and the agricultural industry in this area.
“The conditions on today’s farmers’ day are a bit wet, but it will be interesting to see how these tractors perform even in these circumstances and how they manage the implements. These tractors are incredibly modern and come with all the features and functions a farmer could ask for.”
Mark Meyer, another farmer from the Dalton area, couldn’t stop talking about the Fendt 724 Vario. “This tractor is truly impressive with all the technology in the cab. I’m impressed with how everything can be customised – which screen displays the tractor’s information and how everything is ergonomically easy to control. The tractor is very user-friendly. I’d say … it’s the best in its class!
Heindrich Eggers and Lutz Beneke, two German farmers from the Dalton area, say it’s great to be present at this event. Both farmers are excited about Fendt entering this area and are optimistic about the manufacturer’s future among farmers in the region.
“Fendt showcased their flagship tractors to us today and it was truly impressive. With tractors of this class, you no longer need to spend extra hours working in your field,” Heindrich says.
“These tractors are almost better equipped than your Toyota Hilux bakkie,” Heindrich adds laughingly.

FMS welcomes Fendt in KZN
Cornie Tosen, general manager of FMS, warmly welcomed everyone to the FMS Farmers’ Day. “We’re proud to be the new distributor of Fendt in KwaZulu-Natal. The farmers in the area were incredibly excited to see the Fendt tractors in action. The feedback we received from them has been incredibly positive – they’re especially impressed with the tractors’ comfort, style and economic benefits. I’m confident that Fendt will do well in this area.”
Cornie further explained that the five-year or 5 000-hour warranty provides farmers with added peace of mind and can assist them with financial planning. It also offers good resale and second-hand value, as everything is covered under the warranty. According to Connie, it’s a financial solution that boosts productivity and gives farmers the opportunity to work with one of the best tractor manufacturers in the world.

One purchase, full access to all technology
Cornie emphasises that Fendt’s tractors are perfectly positioned for the agricultural practices in the region – and concludes by highlighting yet another advantage of Fendt. “Another benefit of purchasing a Fendt is that you pay once and gain access to all the technology in the tractor – steering control, variable steering, section control, front suspension, cab suspension, and all the other functionalities.
“With the backing of a five-year warranty, what could possibly go wrong?”
Fendt’s full range, from the 700 to 1000 series, is now available in KwaZulu-Natal through FMS in Pietermaritzburg and Winterton.
