Concepts and designs have been transformed and improved – Rula Holdings, with its dynamic engineering and business approach, has turned the former Flintco Agri products into a one-stop solution for the modern grain producer.

The result is a simplified and improved engineering and manufacturing approach that embodies “sophistication in simplicity.” Rula Bulk Materials Handling’s sixteen years of development focus, materials handling expertise, intellectual property, and manufacturing prowess are now available to the agricultural industry in the form of design packages for flow dynamics, finite element analysis, as well as well-equipped workshop facilities.

These innovations in agricultural products will in future be further developed, manufactured, and marketed locally under the Rula Agri brand.

In the meantime, the team has transformed many concepts into products that address market needs – while maintaining a healthy balance between agricultural engineering and agronomy.

It is generally difficult to create something from nothing – even more so with precision agricultural products for customers with varying needs and a range of environmental variables.

South African producers today need not only an affordable, functional implement but rather a functional implement that meets a variety of specific technical requirements. Implements must also be approached scientifically and manufactured with quality craftsmanship – and then still be competitively priced.

The drought of the past few years and unpredictable seasons have once again made us aware of the need to utilise land optimally as a countermeasure to all the negative variables in the agricultural industry. The need is more specialised and very unique to each producer.

Rula Agri is back at the drawing board

It is already widely known that the company’s fertiliser application equipment is very accurate. The variety of pre-plant applications, as well as seed and fertiliser application, can still be adjusted to be applied to a wider range of farming practices. It is especially the different soil types, depth of fertiliser application, and quantity of fertiliser products that will determine the equipment’s configuration.

Unlike the already successful precision fertiliser application equipment, Rula Agri first had to test a few precision planter units during the 2024 season on various farms. Many valuable observations were made, and information was gathered from the respective producers who kindly made fields available.

Contributions made in this regard have led to improvements in the planter equipment. The company specifically wishes to express its appreciation to the large number of producers who have already given their time and shared their years of knowledge and needs for successful production with us.

With fresh insights and our constant drive for excellence, we have now developed a minimum-tillage planter unit. This includes a cutting wheel unit at the front of the frame, a hydraulic tine assembly for fertiliser application, as well as a variety of row cleaners that, combined with the universal planter unit, form a formidable combination.

Conventional planter unit

We plan to launch this planter unit assembly at NAMPO 2025 and then also market it aggressively in the industry. Our door is always open – producers are welcome to come and discuss their specific needs at our Honeydew offices.

It is not an easy task to compete with a large number of international companies, but so far, it has been very exciting. Rula Agri is here to make a lasting difference in the South African agricultural industry.

An added benefit of being part of the Rula Holdings group is a well-established after-sales service that not only supplies parts but can also perform maintenance on farms for delivered equipment.
