This year at NAMPO Cape 2025, Smith Power introduced an exciting new addition to their product lineup: the Kubota L47 mini TLB. Following the huge success of the L45, one of their most sought-after mini TLBs for years, now completely sold out, the L47 is its natural successor, offering more power, better ergonomics, and a number of smart improvements.

“The L47 is a modular tractor that can be used like a standard farm tractor, but is also a fully capable TLB,” says Dennis van der Merwe, National Sales Manager for Kubota at Smith Power Equipment.

“It has a hydrostatic drive, a front loader bucket, and a backhoe, it’s a machine that truly does it all.”

Compact, yet powerful

The Kubota L47 is part of Kubota’s L-series and is designed for both agricultural and construction applications.

With a 47,1 horsepower (35 kW) diesel engine and an HST Plus hydrostatic transmission with three speed ranges, the L47 offers smooth handling and excellent performance. The tractor can travel at up to 22,7 km/h, making it ideal for various work scenarios.

Loader and backhoe

The TL1300 front loader can lift up to 1 139 mm high and offers an impressive bucket breakout force of 2 055 kg. At the back is the BT1000B backhoe, which can dig as deep as 3 070 mm with a digging force of 2 642 kg. A range of bucket sizes makes it easy to choose the right tool for the job.

Hydraulic power and robust construction

With a hydraulic flow of 95 liters per minute and a pressure of 186 bar, the L47 is built for heavy-duty work. The machine weighs approximately 3 268 kg and features a 67-liter fuel tank, allowing for long operating hours without interruption.

Operator comfort

The L47 isn’t just tough — it’s also designed with the operator’s comfort in mind. With hydraulic steering, wet disc brakes, and a four-post ROPS/FOPS protection system, safety and comfort are top priorities. The ergonomic layout and fast cycle times (only 3,2 seconds to lift to full height) make it a pleasure to operate, even on long workdays.

The L47 is suitable for small to mid-sized farms, orchards and vineyards, land preparation, trenching and material handling, as well as digging, levelling, and transporting tasks.

If you’re looking for a compact yet powerful TLB that’s reliable and user-friendly, the Kubota L47 is an excellent choice. Smith Power Equipment’s launch of this model at NAMPO Cape underlines their commitment to farmers and contractors who need equipment that gets the job done.
