Leading the future means evolving, and Scania has done just that, taking charge of the transport industry by introducing their new Scania Super to the market, and what better place to showcase the latest in transport technology than NAMPO Bothaville.
Scania is a world-leading transport solutions provider that focuses firmly on the profitability of clients and the conservation of our planet.
“With Scania, we don’t just sell a product, we sell a solution. When we talk to customers, we talk about the total operating economy,” said Michael Schoeman, Regional Sales Manager for Scania Gauteng at the launch of the Super during NAMPO.

The future of transport is Super
The new Scania Super is the latest technology that Scania has on offer; it’s a new innovative product. The Super is the best in its class, and with rising fuel costs, it brings some relief with up to eight percent more fuel savings compared to Scania’s previous model, while simultaneously setting a new benchmark for emissions.
The Super comes with a completely new driveline that will give customers more fuel savings, more payload and more uptime than ever before. Each component is engineered to operate seamlessly with each other to improve performance.
The Super platform features a Super 11-litre- or 13-litre engine, Scania Opticruise G25 and G33 gearboxes, high-efficiency rear axles, advanced cooling and aftertreatment systems, Intelligent powertrain control software, and modular, predictable chassis architecture (MACH).
By optimising the energy flow from the engine to the wheels, the Super enables lower fuel consumption, smoother drivability and high operational uptime.
This new addition also features the brand-new dashboard that was launched with the previous Scania model.
“If you look at the vehicle itself, a lot of research has gone into the aerodynamics of the Super. You have a high aero kit and a low aero kit, and all these features talk to fuel savings and fuel efficiency,” explained Michael.

In addition to improved fuel performance, the new Scania powertrain delivers a much smoother drive and an extended horsepower range of up to 412 kW. To complement the new powertrain, Scania has also introduced their most versatile chassis yet. With increased layout adaptability, improved weight distribution and the possibility to create more free space on the frame, the new chassis concept improves both payload potential and bodybuilding options.
More than just truck sales
Michael adds it’s important for Scania not only to sell trucks but to be a complete solutions provider for their clients.
“It’s not just about the fuel savings; we have a flexible maintenance plan on offer as well. We tailor-make our solutions according to our customers’ specific needs. Just because you are in farming, it doesn’t mean your farming application is the same as someone else’s, the same goes for mining. We like to take the time, sit with our customers and see where we can offer a custom-made solution that will suit our client best,” said Michael.
While fuel savings and emissions are valuable, you can’t achieve either if your vehicles are not on the road, and this is why Scania is serious about uptime as well. “The quicker we can get the vehicles out and on the road, and the more time we can have them up and running with our Scania assistance, the better for our clients – and happy customers are what we want,” said Michael.
Optimising your drive
Scania not only offers cutting-edge technology, they also provide driver training on their new Super drivelines, as well as the other models in their range.
“It is imperative that we have driver training. training. The training teaches the drivers to drive the vehicles at their optimum performance and efficiency,” Michael emphasised.
Launching the Super at NAMPO was a highlight for the Scania team, and according to Michael, NAMPO is the perfect platform to showcase the Super.
“NAMPO bring people together from all over the country. This means people who previously weren’t aware of Scania or customers who have been previously with other OEMs could come and have a look at the Super. Climb into the vehicle, talk to one of our experts and experience this amazing technology for yourself,” Michael said.
