Every year, Pioneer hosts their Agronomy Days. These days give farmers in different areas the opportunity to see firsthand what Pioneer’s seed genetics mean for them. This year, however, was extra special: the world-renowned seed company celebrated its 100th anniversary. To mark this milestone, they hosted four Agronomy Days during their 100-year Agronomy Tour.
On day two of the Agronomy Tour, the heavens opened. Apart from coffee and pancakes, which were the first order of the day, farmers were also transported by trucks to the beautiful fields of Chris Schoolwinkel and his son William’s farm, De Rots Farming Morningtide Investments. The Pioneer area manager for the Western and Northern Free State, as well as part of the North West, Hennie du Plooy, explains that farmers in their region farm in a unique agricultural environment.
“There are not many challenges here; this is some of the best agricultural land in the country.”
