Stephan van Staden talks about the challenges they face on the farm. Because they are fortunate enough to be part of an irrigation scheme, it is extremely important for them to apply water accurately and correctly.
“We moved away from the conventional pipe system. A pivot was simply more cost-effective and less labour-intensive. Those figures no longer made sense. Pivots made things much easier for us,” he explains. They had their first Reinke pivot installed in 2024 and started by growing onions under the pivot. They are currently growing sweetcorn under the same pivot.
