Did you think NAMPO is only about tractors and implements? That’s certainly not the case! ESAB SA once again showcased their world-class welding machines at NAMPO 2026. This year, ESAB is 122 years old and is classified as a world leader in the manufacturing of welding and cutting equipment, as well as automation. ESAB places its focus entirely on the end user and goes out of its way to meet their customers’ needs.

“We don’t believe in just dropping off a product at a client’s premises, but rather in investing in their business and making sure we understand what their needs and requirements are, and how we can walk a road together to make their business more successful,” says Jannie Bronkhorst, Technical Director of ESAB South Africa.

He mentioned that this was their seventh year at NAMPO. “We are very blessed to participate in NAMPO every year and for the opportunity to introduce our products to visitors,” he says.

ESAB can provide clients with everything they require for welding and cutting. Among other things, they supply personal protective equipment (PPE), welding machines, filler materials and cutting materials. Additionally, they can handle automation and mechanisation, and can even issue welding qualifications.

ESAB also offers a wide range of plasma welding machines in various sizes.

World-class technology

ESAB was named the 2023/’24 Global Red Dot winners due to the technology of their Renegade Volt welding machines. The Renegade Volt is a fully hybrid machine, which means the machine operates on four FLEXVOLT batteries and can also be plugged into 220-volt power.

“The reason we designed this machine is that many underground mines nowadays no longer allow electrical equipment,” Jannie explains.

The Renegade Volt is also a highly versatile stick machine, so it can be used for both the MMA and TIG welding processes.

Something for everyone

ESAB also exhibited their range of plasma welding machines at NAMPO. The machines are available in single- and three-phase models, ranging from 45-amp to 120-amp handheld units. Furthermore, ESAB has fully automated Computer Numerical Control (CNC) systems that go up to 400 amps.

They also offer a full range of safety gear, including gloves, protective eyewear, aprons, gaiters (to protect the lower legs), jackets and trousers. Their advanced Sentinel A60 welding helmet is the only one of its kind with a 30-month warranty. The Sentinel A60 features 12 filter systems and includes True Colour Vision (advanced lens technology).

Jannie mentions that these helmets are highly beneficial for welders who wear multifocal glasses, for example.

Caring about the community

ESAB’s global company also owns the enterprise GCE, which manufactures medical oxygen equipment, among other items.

“During the Covid period, ESAB brought Oxygen Concentrators into South Africa. We also recently donated one Oxygen Concentrator to Jacaranda [FM]’s Good Morning Angels and will soon donate another one to help a woman. We have donated nine Oxygen Concentrators to Hot 102.7’s Hot Cares. In total, we have donated 10 units worth around R324 000,” says Jannie. There are eight more still to be donated.

He adds that even though ESAB is the world leader in welding equipment, they also want to contribute to looking after the underprivileged, and this donation is just one of the ways in which they want to make a difference.

“Wherever there’s a need, we want to see whether we can help,” he says.
