When birds descend on farm buildings, sheds, storerooms or even your home, they can cause major problems within days. They build nests, contaminate food, infect seed or feed, and damage structures and equipment – leading to unnecessary costs and frustration for farmers.

What may initially seem like a minor nuisance can quickly develop into a serious challenge, especially when natural control measures such as nets, screens or other physical barriers are insufficient. With rising input costs and valuable infrastructure that must be protected, effective and sustainable bird control on the farm is becoming increasingly important.

Eagle Eye Bird Control has, through years of experience, developed solutions specifically designed for agricultural environments to effectively keep birds out of farm buildings, sheds and storage areas. One of their popular products is Optical Bird Wax – a simple, safe, and effective way to keep birds out of unwanted areas.

A visual deterrent that works

Eagle Eye Optical Bird Wax is a visual deterrent that works by reflecting the UV light spectrum. Birds associate this reflection with fire or danger, which instinctively causes them to stay away from treated surfaces. Unlike traditional methods that attempt to scare birds away with noise or physical barriers, this product uses the birds’ own natural behaviour and perception against them.

Natural, non-toxic, and safe

The product contains natural beeswax, which is non-toxic and biodegradable. This makes it safe for use on various surfaces and in agricultural environments where food safety and environmental responsibility are priorities.

In addition to the visual effect, birds also dislike the sticky texture under their feet. The discomfort it causes further discourages them from landing or perching on treated areas.

Long-lasting protection

One of the major advantages of Optical Bird Wax is its long-lasting effectiveness.

  • Effective outdoors for up to two years
  • Effective indoors for up to five years
  • This long-term effectiveness makes it a cost-effective solution for farmers seeking sustainable protection without the need for continuous treatment.

Easy to apply

Application is simple, but there are a few practical tips to ensure the best results:

  • The wax is more difficult to apply in cold weather.
  • Place the tube in the sun for 15 minutes, or in warm water for 10 minutes, for easier application.
  • Apply a thin line (2-3 mm in diameter) to the surface that needs protection.
  • On wider surfaces, more than one line may be applied.
  • One tube covers approximately 8-10 linear metres.
  • Do not use at temperatures below 0 °C or on surfaces warmer than 50 °C.

Removal if necessary

If the product needs to be removed, the excess wax can be scraped off and the surface washed with paraffin.
