What is a home without a safe? Most homeowners in South Africa, whether in cities or on farms, have firearms that must be kept in a safe by law. Too often, there are reports of innocent people being brutally attacked with their own firearms by burglars who loot anything they can get their hands on.

In a changing world where nothing and no one is safe, Magnum Safes’ wide range of safes offers you the necessary peace of mind at affordable prices.

Gawie du Toit, Director of Magnum Safes, was one of the exhibitors at this year’s NAMPO expo in Bothaville in the Free State.

According to Gawie, Magnum Safes has been in existence since 1988 and this industry is still growing.

“This is what we do for a living: We build safes,” he says. “We are blessed and the business is doing well.”

This industry changes daily and Magnum Safes is constantly adapting to the changing needs to remain an industry leader. They manufacture a large range of safes at their factory in the Koedoespoort Industrial Area in Pretoria.

A safe for every purpose

Gun safes in various sizes are equipped with racks for two to sixteen guns, as well as built-in shelves for the safe storage of ammunition, earmuffs, cleaning and other firearm-related equipment.

Smaller safes for handguns, jewellery, documents and laptops are also available. They have safes for cash, either on the premises of a business or in an armoured cash van for safe transport.

Although standard safes are available, safes can also be customised to meet the customer’s specific needs. Magnum Safes delivers to dealers, as well as directly to customers.

A wide variety of safes are manufactured at their factory in the Koedoespoort Industrial Area in Pretoria.

Built to last

Their safes are manufactured from high-quality tempered steel in accordance with current legislation for the safekeeping of firearms and ammunition.

Each Magnum safe is equipped with a seven-lever heavy-duty tumbler lock system with two keys, ensuring that the contents of the heavy-duty safes remain inaccessible to unwanted persons.

Magnum Safes comply with the strict requirements of the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS). The walls of the safe are 3 mm thick and the door 6 mm.

Safes are provided with holes in the floor and rear panel so that the safe can be bolted to the floor and to the wall of a business or in a residence.

The weight of the safes depends on the size. For example, a safe for two guns weighs 60 kg, a safe for nine guns 120 kg, and one for 16 guns 140 kg. The smaller safe for a handgun weighs 9 kg and only has holes in the back for bolting purposes. Where a Magnum safe is bolted to the wall, it stays put!

Magnum Safes manufactures standard-sized safes but can also customise a safe to a customer’s specific needs.
