Water is precious, especially when you farm. With erratic and unpredictable rain patterns, it is now more important than ever to store water safely and reliably, and an earth dam on your farm is one of the quickest and easiest solutions.

But what happens when your dam leaks? Then you need DamIt™ Dam Sealer. DamIt™ has been on South African shelves since 2016 but has been operating in other countries since 2006. DamIt™ is an easy, affordable and permanent solution to effortlessly seal your dam.

DamIt™ Dam Sealer is an advanced, non-toxic, polymer powder that is used to seal leaking and new dams. The polymer is applied to a leaking dam or pond by sprinkling the powder over the surface of the water.

André Fourie, Managing Director of DamIt™ Dam Sealer, says DamIt™ is the smart way to seal your dam and keep the water inside. Aqua Plastech are the distributors of DamIt™ across Africa.

The process works very simply, André explains.

André Fourie, Managing Director of DamIt™ Dam Sealer, tells Nampo visitors more about the product.

Your dam leaks because there are porous areas in the soil, that is small gaps between the rock, the sand and the clay.

DamIt™ granules mix with the dam water and then seep into the soil where they settle in these gaps. The granules then swell to fill the gaps and basically block all the porous areas, thereby keeping the water in your dam.

DamIt™ works very quickly. Your dam can be sealed within a few hours and will be watertight within a few days.

DamIt™ is insoluble and forms a long-term plug. The polymer remains active when it is wet and can withstand continuous wet/dry cycles to accommodate rising and falling water levels.

The product is suitable for old or new dams, as well as dam walls.

“We all have a budget and want to save money, so you don’t need to treat your entire dam either, we can treat only the parts that are leaking. We have the right equipment and can treat small or large dams. There is no dam that is too big; we have the experience,” says André.

DamIt™ works on a wide range of soil types, from clay to sand, and in a wide variety of water types; from clear, pure drinking water to saltwater with high levels of suspended clay, typically found in rural livestock dams.
