Irrigation Unlimited once again demonstrated their commitment to sustainable and efficient agricultural practices during NAMPO. With a focus on their extensive range of products and services, the company highlighted how they assist farmers in making the most of every drop of water.

Ocmis crawler sprayers: Self-driven efficiency

One of the highlights at Irrigation Unlimited’s exhibition was the Ocmis crawler sprayers. These self-driven sprayers, imported from Italy, are designed to operate without electricity, making them ideal for remote fields or during load-shedding. Although the Ocmis does not require electricity in the field, it still needs the flow and pressure from a pump to function. Thus, it requires a power source and can indeed operate during load-shedding, as long as that source is diesel-powered.

The sprayer uses water pressure to drive a gearbox that reels in the pipe connected to a spray cart that distributes water across the field.

Models such as the R1/1-75/220 and the R2/2-100/300 offer various pipe sizes and lengths to meet different irrigation needs.

The Ocmis systems stand out for their robustness, reliability, and the ease with which they are operated and maintained.

The self-driven crawler sprayers from Irrigation Unlimited have become a common sight on many farms in South Africa. It is an excellent irrigation system for fields where pivots are not an option, and can be moved easily by one person and a tractor.

Drip irrigation systems, precision and water savings

Irrigation Unlimited also introduced their new range of drip irrigation systems, manufactured by Afriq Water. These systems are designed to deliver water directly to the roots of plants, promoting water conservation and improved crop growth. The systems are adaptable to the farmer’s specific needs, with a waiting period of one to two weeks for orders.

Drip irrigation is ideal for vegetable production, orchard crops, and other crops where precise water control is essential.

Accessories for a complete irrigation system

To ensure a complete and efficient irrigation system, Irrigation Unlimited offers a variety of accessories. These include:

  • Valves and pumps: For the control of water pressure and flow in any system.
  • Sprinklers and filters: To ensure even water distribution and to remove debris from the system.
  • Pipes and fittings: Available in various sizes and materials, including fully galvanised steel and lighter plastic pipes from Afriq Water, which are easy to handle and less attractive for thieves.

The combination of quality components and technical expertise enables farmers to assemble systems that suit their specific production needs and water sources.

Mias van der Walt, Area Manager of Irrigation Unlimited, was one of the team members who welcomed visitors and shared more information about the ingenious irrigation systems that Irrigation Unlimited offers with farmers.
