On 24 February, Buckridge Bonsmaras hosted their online production auction with great success, once again proving that quality always makes its mark – even in challenging times in the agricultural industry.

The auction was presented by André Kock and Son from Vryburg, in collaboration with SwiftVee and their online platform, which made guaranteed a seamless process for online buyers and buyers from afar.

Buckridge Bonsmaras offered an exceptionally strong selection of bulls and female animals at this auction – animals that reflect years of focused selection, functional traits and genetic progress. Some of the pregnant heifers offered at the auction were originally intended for this year’s National Bonsmara Auction, but due to restrictions related to foot-and-mouth disease, these animals were instead presented at Buckridge’s production auction. All the animals were carefully selected by hand.

The most expensive bull of the day, Lot 5 (SYF 22-351), sold for R400 000 to: Westbourn Bonsmaras, DRM Bonsmaras and TSAR Beef.

The results were as follows:

Buckridge Bonsmaras can certainly be proud of an auction that not only achieved high prices but also reaffirmed the breed’s standards. The success of this online production auction highlights that dedicated breeding, consistent selection and professional presentation continue to be rewarded, and that even in challenging times, alternative plans can be made to successfully host auctions and support farmers through difficult periods.
