A proper wool press is an essential investment for any wool farmer for efficient, professional wool handling. Not only does it help package wool neatly and compactly for transport and storage, but it also plays a major role in maintaining wool quality and ultimately influencing the price farmers receive for their wool.
With rising input costs and a competitive market, a reliable wool press can help farmers save time, labour, and money while ensuring that bales meet market standards.
Willa Nolte, owner of Kanna Industries, shares more about their dependable wool presses designed specifically for farmers.
Automatic wool press
This machine is already well known among wool farmers, and Willa explains that many improvements have been made to it.
“We have introduced a few additional safety measures, such as installing an automatic safety catch on the door. The machine now closes the door automatically, making it unnecessary to physically latch it,” says Willa.
Kanna has also significantly improved the machine’s speed.
“Farmers will notice that the cycle time is between 16 and 20 seconds. This is double the speed of the previous model. The door also opens automatically once the cycle is complete, which increases productivity in the wool shed,” Willa adds.
The machine is also fitted with a scale to ensure that the wool reaches the correct weight.
Larger wheels have been added to make moving the machine easier.
“The machine can also be shortened by one metre if it needs to be moved into a shed where the height is restricted,” says Willa.
Electric wool press
This wool press was specifically developed for the more affordable market, allowing farmers to maintain good production levels at a lower cost.
“What makes this machine unique is that when the pins are inserted, they are placed above the wool bale rather than into the bale itself. They can also be removed easily.”
The wool press is available with an optional scale, and another useful addition is a strap system that helps pull the bale out, preventing it from getting stuck.
Recyclable material presses
These vertical presses allow bales to be removed easily once the press is opened. The floor lifts using a plunger, which pushes the bale out.
