The type and number of bacteria found on green silage material usually can’t be controlled, which subsequently affects the quality of the silage. For farmers who farm intensively with livestock, silage inoculants are indispensable because they significantly improve the quality and nutritional value of silage.

Bacterial silage inoculants are critically important as they considerably increase the speed and extent of fermentation. Therefore, they contribute to feed of a better quality that ensures better production in animals and subsequently more profit for farmers.

For that reason, they provide two highly effective bacterial silage inoculants to local farmers, namely Ecosyl 50T and Ecocool 100T.

Ecosyl 50T

This inoculant is ideal for a wide range of crops and ensiling conditions. It has been thoroughly proven to better fermentation and animal performance.

Ecosyl contains MTD/1 – a special strain of bacteria which is only found in the Ecosyl range of silage additives. Ecosyl results in fewer losses to dry material (DM), and subsequently, more nutrients are available to animals.

The product is available for a liquid application, and one bottle treats between 50 and 100 tonnes of silage crops, depending on the crop and ensiling conditions.

Ecosyl T50 has a shelf life (unopened) of 24 months in a cool, dry place, but the opened bags must be applied within three days. Ecosyl doesn’t contain any genetically modified organisms (GMOs).

Ecocool 100T

Ecocool 100T is used for grass, maize, legumes and cereal/legume double crops that are vulnerable to aerobic contamination.

The product combines two unique bacterial strains in one inoculant, namely Lactobacillus plantarum strain MTD/1 for improved fermentation and Lactobacillus buchneri strain PJB/1 for improved aerobic stability, giving you better quality silage to feed. Due to the use of this inoculant, more nitrogen is available, which is preserved as true protein and therefore improves feed efficiency. Ecocool 100T controls unfavourable organisms, such as mould, and as a result, there is significantly less mycotoxin build-up after ensiling.

It is also available for liquid application, and one bottle treats 100 tonnes of silage. As in the case of Ecocyl 50T, the spray tank mixture must be applied within 48 hours. Ecocyl also has a shelf life (unopened) of 24 months in a cool, dry place. This product also contains no GMOs.
