Across the agricultural sector, farmers are increasingly transforming the way they approach mechanisation. Rising input costs, tighter margins and the pressure to improve productivity are driving the demand for equipment that is more fuel efficient, versatile and reliable, while also reducing downtime during critical farming periods. Modern farmers require machinery that can perform multiple tasks with ease, ensuring maximum productivity with minimal standing time.

It is against this backdrop that Mahindra Tractors, the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, officially launched its much-anticipated and future-ready Mahindra OJA tractor range during NAMPO Bothaville on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.

The launch of the two OJA models, the OJA 21-23 and the OJA 21-26, created considerable excitement among farmers, industry stakeholders and the Mahindra team alike.

By partnering with the relevant prominent attachment and implement suppliers, the OJA range offers all-encompassing solutions tailored to the diverse requirements of farmers and users across various sectors. This includes horticulture, vineyards, orchards, lifestyle farming and smaller agricultural operations where versatility and manoeuvrability are essential.

During the launch, Saurabh Kohli, Head of Farm Business at Mahindra Tractors, highlighted the significance of the new range for the South African market.

“Today we revealed the new generation of farming in South Africa,” he said. “We introduced our new range of tractors known as OJA. We have launched a compact series available in 23 and 26 horsepower with hydrostatic transmission, and that is what makes our OJA range so exciting. At Mahindra we are extremely proud of the launch of the OJA range, epitomising innovation to transform farming globally.”

Why OJA in South Africa?

Saurabh explained that the demand for compact tractors has steadily increased across South Africa, particularly among emerging farmers, hobby farmers and larger farming operations with specialised needs such as orchards and vineyards.

“We have been seeing the need for smaller compact tractors across the country. This segment caters not only to small emerging farmers, but also hobby farmers and corporate farmers who require compact tractors for orchards and vineyards,” he added.

He further mentioned that the timing of the launch was ideal, especially at an event as significant as NAMPO. “We believe this is the most appropriate time for us to introduce our range, which was already debuted internationally in 2023 and has been sold successfully across the world. Why not South Africa, and nothing better than NAMPO?”

Mahindra introduced the OJA range globally in partnership with Mitsubishi Agri Machinery in 2023 (read more here), combining advanced engineering with Mahindra’s trusted reliability and quality. The result is a modern, sophisticated and elegant compact tractor range that strengthens Mahindra’s already established product offering.

Greg Bergmann, National Sales Head for Mahindra Tractors South Africa, said the response from farmers at NAMPO was overwhelmingly positive.

“Farmers were very impressed with the tractors, their versatility and the range of options available,” Greg explained. “Once they realised that you could spec your tractor according to your own needs and applications, they immediately understood where the phrase ‘every job made easy’ comes from.”

He added that in today’s economic climate, efficiency and versatility have become more important than ever.

“In the current climate and economy, everyone needs to be more efficient and versatile. Farmers want one tractor capable of doing multiple jobs instead of many tractors doing separate tasks. Our focus is to provide a purposeful unit that can handle multiple applications with ease.”

According to Greg, the OJA range is especially well suited for farmers looking for an all-in-one solution: “A lot of farmers need a start-up tractor, and this is the perfect solution, one tractor that can complete a wide range of tasks, from planting to general farm work and everything in between.”

The excitement was tangible as Mahindra Tractors officially unveiled the new OJA tractor range during NAMPO Bothaville 2026, introducing a future-ready compact tractor solution to South African farmers.

Mahindra’s 5-3-3 promise

Another key aspect that continues to strengthen Mahindra’s reputation in South Africa is its commitment to customer support through its well-known 5-3-3 promise. This commitment also applies to the newly launched OJA range.

The 5-3-3 promise includes a five-year warranty, a 3 000-hour warranty and a three-working day turnaround commitment, giving farmers peace of mind and confidence in their investment.

Saurabh concluded by reaffirming Mahindra’s commitment to South African agriculture. “For seven years we have stood strong in South Africa, bringing innovative products to our farmers while backing them with dependable warranty support. The OJA range is another step forward in helping farmers farm smarter and more efficiently.”

With the launch of the OJA range, Mahindra Tractors once again demonstrated its focus on innovation, versatility and farmer-centred solutions, ensuring that every job on the farm can truly be made easier.

The Mahindra Tractors team proudly celebrates the successful launch of the new OJA range at NAMPO 2026, showcasing innovation, versatility and farmer-focused solutions.
