Valtrac is widely known for its extensive range of tractors, offering something for every farmer. However, alongside these tractor ranges, the company also supplies implements from Pöttinger, TATU, Jeantil and others. These product ranges include durable disc implements as well as haymaking and dry bean equipment.

At the recent NAMPO Bothaville exhibition, Valtrac showcased its Pöttinger and TATU product ranges to show that the company offers far more than tractors. In fact, they provide everything that a farming operation needs to thrive.

Valtrac IntroSeeder

The new Valtrac IntroSeed planter.

One of the latest additions to Valtrac’s implement range is the IntroSeeder no-till planter, designed to place seed directly into the soil without prior cultivation. The planter’s seed hoppers are sourced from Pöttinger and utilise the well-known APV seed systems, which use air pressure to ensure precise seed placement.

“It’s a highly versatile machine and can be adapted for different row spacings. You can fit three seed hoppers between each row or opt for two. We can widen the frame for broader row spacing or bring the rows closer together,” says Devin Dedwith of Valtrac.

The APV seed hopper allows farmers to plant a mixture of seeds in a single operation. This technology not only saves time but also reduces fuel consumption.

“It’s a machine that should be able to work on your farm throughout the year,” says Devin.

APV seed hoppers are available in various sizes, ranging from 40 litres up to 1 600 litres. Seed can be distributed either via a disc-spreading system or a pipe distribution system. The smallest pipe system features six outlets, while the largest has 32.

Conservation agriculture with Valtrac

Another recent addition is the Pöttinger Rotocare, equipped with rotating wheels, and the Tinecare, which uses spring tines. These implements are designed for farmers who want to adopt conservation agriculture and precision soil management practices.

According to Devin, these implements can be used for weed control without relying on chemical applications.

“Some farmers will recognise these as the old rolling harrow-type implements, but this is essentially an improved system. Each arm is individually mounted, and one of the major advantages is that, regardless of where the tines are positioned, the implement applies the same ground pressure across its entire working width,” he explains.

These implements are particularly suited to farmers who want to reduce their dependence on chemicals and adopt more organic farming practices while lowering input costs.

This new Rotocare implement can remove weeds without using chemicals.

Working with Pöttinger

Valtrac is a proud supplier of Pöttinger products.

Valtrac also offers Pöttinger high-speed disc harrows in working widths ranging from 3 m to 12 m. Various roller options are available, including the Packer roller, which lightly firms the soil to ensure good seed-to-soil contact, and the Econo roller, a lighter and more economical option.

The Econo roller uses leaf springs and is designed to prevent soil build-up under wetter field conditions.

Valtrac also supplies single and double cage rollers, which are used behind cultivation equipment to consolidate the soil and break up clods after tillage.

“Pöttinger is renowned for the long service life of its implements, especially because of the double-arm system used on the high-speed disc harrows. The system ensures that the rubber components last a lifetime,” says Devin.

Pöttinger hay equipment

Pöttinger is also recognised for its high-quality hay equipment, which includes mowers, rotary rakes and tedders. The mower range is available in widths from 2,2 m to 11,2 m, while rotary rakes are offered from 3,5 m to 14 m. The tedder range is available in working widths from 5,4 m to 14 m.

The APV seed systems use air pressure to ensure precise seed placement.

Tillage solutions with Valtrac

For soil cultivation, Valtrac supplies TATU reversible mouldboard ploughs ranging from four to 10 furrows. The company also provides disc implements with blade sizes from 24 inches (61 cm) to 42 inches (107 cm).
