Farmers’ needs are an important focus point

Although the company has introduced a wide range of products to the market over the years, they also focus on the unique needs of farmers. Ripper Tillage can design and manufacture custom products and row widths on request, regardless of the scale of the requirement.

Their two premises in Henneman have the infrastructure to manufacture everything in-house – from large agricultural implements such as header trailers, planter frames and ripper frames to agricultural components cut with a 16 hp (12 kW) laser machine.

Christoff Botha, head of beam design, emphasises that the laser machine can easily cut steel up to 40 mm thick, while Reinier Ferreira, production and workshop manager, ensures that stock and repairs are always available on time.

The fast pace of agriculture requires repairs to be completed quickly, whether it is a disc axle that needs cutting, an auger that requires new spirals or threading on a special bolt.

Reinier is also responsible for planning to ensure that sufficient parts and stock are available throughout the year for the specific periods farmers find themselves in.

Technology and expertise

The company also offers services such as cutting, bending and rolling of plates, sandblasting for old equipment, computer numerical control (CNC) machining and electroplating. This combination of modern technology and practical expertise ensures that Ripper Tillage’s products are strong and long-lasting.

Furthermore, Ripper Tillage acts as agents for several precision agriculture companies, including Precision Planting, 360 Yield Centre, FieldView, Yetter, XAG Drones, Drago GT corn headers, and Nardi Sunstorm sunflower headers.

Werner Lubbe, Manager of Precision Planting at Ripper Tillage, oversees the division that tests seed meters and provides accurate data to farmers to improve singulation and yield.

Together with FieldView, they offer data collection on planters, sprayers and harvesters, which is a valuable tool for informed decision-making. They also upgrade older planters with the latest precision technology and offer various options for fertiliser application.

Danie van Jaarsveld handles the standard production units manufactured in Henneman, including closed coulters, rollers, rolling tines, windbreak rollers, disc cultivators, header trailers and much more. He and his team are also responsible for field demonstrations, equipment setup and product delivery.
