In a time where climate change and water shortages influence every farmer’s decision-making, effective irrigation is not just a tool – it is a necessity for sustainable food production.
This year at NAMPO Cape 2025, Irrigation Unlimited once again presented their wide range of irrigation equipment to farmers, offering innovative solutions that help save water and cater to each farmer’s unique needs.
Henko Cilliers, Branch Manager at Irrigation Unlimited, shared more about their various irrigation equipment and solutions.

Sweetwater float valves
The Sweetwater float valve is made from stainless steel and is locally manufactured. It supplies high-volume water and comes in a neat package. No sheep will be able to break or chew it off.
Mini garden drip system

Irrigation Unlimited’s drip system can handle extreme sun and heat.
This is perfect for small-scale farmers and home gardens. The drip system is available in 100 m and 300 m lengths with a 0,9 mm wall thickness and 30 cm spacing.
Drip irrigation systems
“Our drip system’s flow setup can be customised to your specific needs, with spacing from 0,15 m to 0,9 m and a wall thickness of 1 mm – built to last many years under the sun,” Henko explains.
These systems are designed to deliver water directly to the roots of plants, promoting water conservation and better crop growth. Drip irrigation is ideal for vegetable production, orchards, and other crops where precise water control is essential.
Afriq’s steel fertiliser tanks
The fertiliser tanks come in 60-liter, 100-liter, and 200-liter sizes for liquid fertiliser. The lid is very convenient to open and close. The advantage of liquid fertiliser is that it spreads evenly over the crops, saving time and labour.
Quick coupling HDPE pipe system
“The system is lightweight, easy to move, theft-proof, very competitively priced, convenient, practical, and easy to install,” Henko adds.
This system is made from 6 m HDPE pipes, with male and female connectors attached at the ends. Plastic couplings are used instead of metal, which significantly reduces costs.
HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) pipes are very thick and strong, yet light enough to moved where needed easily. The quick-coupling system is extremely durable and adaptable to your needs. The pipes are designed to withstand all climate conditions, from icy winters to extremely hot summers. They are UV-protected and highly durable under sun exposure.
Easily movable Rotrix travelling irrigators

Rotrix’s travelling irrigators at NAMPO Cape 2025.
These self-propelled sprayers are designed to operate without electricity, making them ideal for remote fields or during load shedding. Although they don’t require power in the field, they still need flow and pressure from a pump to function. Therefore, they do require a power source – but can operate during load shedding as long as that source is diesel-powered.
The sprayers use water pressure to drive a gearbox that reels in a pipe, towing a spray cart that distributes water across the land.
The different Rotrix travelling irrigators on display included:
- The Hosemaster 100, which can be rolled and unrolled by hand.
- The Sportsman model, the smallest of the travelling irrigators. It sprays 25 m lanes with a 12 m radius.
- The Rotrix Greenkeeper, 200 m in length, can irrigate 6 hectares in a week.
- The Rainmaker model, also a 200 m model, features dual sprayers for double the capacity, making it ideal for any condition.
