Below is a closer look at the bulls on offer:
Lot 1
We start the auction with the very strong bull, BF 23-201. He is the first of nine sons of SYF 17-256 that we are offering this year.
He is an early-maturing, dark red bull with excellent depth and balance. This masculine bull has good muscling, a strong topline, and a nicely attached tailhead.
He can be used with ease for breeding heifers, as he has a calving ease value of 121. The fact that he has also tested myostatin-normal works in his favour.
His dam, BF 14-416, is one of Buckridge’s reliable cows with an average calving interval of 375 days over eight calves. The granddam, BF 08 426, also had an average calving interval of 375 days.
The bull has a heifer fertility index of 104, indicating that his daughters will be fertile cows. Buckridge believes he will be a great asset for any commercial herd. Watch his video here.
Lot 2
BF 23-17 is one of our favorites!
He is another early-maturing son of SYF 17-256 with excellent balance, depth and capacity.
This bull is well-muscled behind the shoulders, has a strong topline, good testes and sheath and strong hooves. He is a masculine bull with good skin and hair, as well as well-developed shoulders.
His dam is a daughter of V15-338, which was bred by Hannes van den Berg of Reivilo. Over the past few years, she has had a significant impact on the Buckridge herd, alongside SYF 17-256.
This bull has strong values for fertility (103), growth (107), and an excellent heifer fertility index of 115.

Lot 3
SFM 22-05 comes from a very beautiful dam, SYF 09-24. In 16 years, she had 13 calves with an intercalving period (ICP) of 365 days.
He is a dark red, early-maturing bull with very good depth, balance, and capacity, and a strong topline.
SFM 22-05 is a functionally correct bull with strong hindquarters and good inner and outer thighs, as well as good hooves and a long tail.
He is another excellent, normal myostatin son of SYF 17 256 – and he is a bull that really impresses!

Lot 4
SFM 23-13 is a top early maturing 8-point bull from the SYF-Molopo embryo programme.
This bull has many characteristics that we are looking for in a stud bull!
He is a very correct bull with length, balance, depth, width and capacity; he has nice testes, sheath and very good hooves with a long tail.
His selection values are well-balanced, as most are around 100, and he has a very good growth value of 111.
His mother, SYF 07 182, was one of the top donor cows in the SYF-Molopo embryo programme with a lot of depth in her pedigree. She boasts three excellent normal myostatin sons on offer this year in Lots 4, 8 and 9.

Lot 5
SYF 22-351 is arguably the most impressive bull on offer this year. He is a true representation of Syferfontein’s top genetics!
He is an early-maturing bull that carries an incredible amount of meat and has a normal myostatin status. What sets him apart is his conformation, with extra width, depth and capacity.
He is structurally correct, with good testes, sheath and hooves, and a long tail. He has a masculine head with good width between the eyes and a strong jaw.
Buckridge has used him successfully on heifers, and his offspring in the SYF Molopo and Syferfontein herds are impressive, with many ranking in the top 10% during evaluations.

Lot 6
BF 23-69 is a bull with depth and calving ease. These are characteristics that many stud and commercial breeders want to capture in their herds.
He is a muscular dark red bull with balance, smooth skin and hair, and he has enough width, as well as a nice scrotum and sheath.
BF 23-69 boasts a calving ease value of 136, a maintenance value of 119, and a very good length-to-height ratio of 1:26.
He is a specialist bull with calving ease and due to his excellent depth, he can play a significant, complementary role in his next herd. Watch his video here.
Lot 7
“Easy fleshing” is our first impression when you look at this bull, combined with strong meat-carrying traits. A deep, masculine bull with a very attractive head and well-developed eye banks. Added to this are good balance, capacity, and sound bone structure.
Many commercial breeders ask for an “all-rounder,” and in our opinion, he certainly meets that status. He is another top bull from the SYF 17-256 × V 15-338 combination, which has proven to work well in the Buckridge herd.
Selection values that stand out include calving ease of 104, fertility value of 104, and maintenance value of 135, as well as a very strong heifer fertility index of 116.

Lot 8
SFM 23-15 is a full brother of Lots 4 and 9 from the SYF-Molopo embryo programme.
He is the perfect package!
Remember number SFM 23 15 … Buckridge expects a lot from his offspring.
Of the three full brothers on offer this year, he is the one with the best balanced figures, with an excellent height-to-length ratio of 1:30!
He is a dark red stud bull with an abundance of depth, width, capacity, length of body and masculinity and he has normal myostatin status.

Lot 9
SFM 23-12 is the last full brother of Lots 8 and 4 on offer. This bull exhibits excellent masculinity, balance, depth and capacity, inherited from the combination of his dam, SYF 07-182, and his sire, SYF 17-256.
He also shows good width and a strong topline. He is a structurally correct bull with good testes and hooves and is well-filled behind the shoulders. SFM 23-12 is an impressive bull.
He possesses strong calving ease and growth values, along with an extraordinary length-to-height ratio of 1:28. Like his brothers, he has a normal myostatin status, making him suitable for use on heifers.

Lot 10
SFM 23-01 is the epitome of masculinity.
He is the best son Buckridge has produced from SYF 20-225, which traces back to the well-known SYF 15-155 and SYF 12 90 on the sire side.
This bull carries significant depth in his pedigree, providing predictable breeding performance. His dam, SYF 05-171, one of SYF Molopo’s donor cows used in Buckridge’s embryo program, has produced 15 calves in 17 years with a calving interval of 385 days. Longevity is therefore another outstanding feature of this bull.
He is a dark red, hardy, early-maturing bull with excellent muscling and sound hooves.
This bull has strong above-average selection values and an incredible length-to-height ratio of 1:31.

Lot 11
ROM 22-223 is one of the best sons of LAR 18-98, bred by Buckridge.He is a masculine bull with excellent length, width and muscling. He has a well-developed shoulder, a smooth topline, a well-formed scrotum and strong, sound hooves.
ROM 22-223 displays well-balanced breeding values, making him highly suitable for use on cows. He sires heavy weaners, with an excellent length-to-height ratio of 1:29 and a weaning index of 109.
Buckridge has used him successfully in their own herd and is confident that he will make a very positive contribution to his next herd.

BG 20-78, offered by Buckridge, is a proven herd sire with solid performance data, offered by Buckridge.
He was bred from the Bonsmara gene pool group that Buckridge acquired at the Bonka Bonsmara (Gert Olivier) production sale in 2024.
He is a masculine stud bull with very good body length and width throughout, an impressive hindquarter and excellent hooves.
BG 20-78 also displays very good adaptability traits, particularly with regard to skin and hair. His performance data does not disappoint, showing consistently above-average to very good figures.

Lot 13
SFM 23-11, from Buckridge’s embryo programme, originates from deep Syferfontein genetics.
His dam, ADV 04-165, possessed depth, capacity and width. She served in the Syferfontein herd for 20 years, with an intercalving period (ICP) of 382 days.
SFM 23-11 is another one of the nine sons of SYF 17-256 offered by Buckridge, and he boasts an exceptional genetic combination that will enhance the genetic pool of any herd.
He is also an early-maturing bull with an outstanding length-to-height ratio of 1:31.

Lot 14
SFM 23-21 is an embryo combination of SYF 16-241, his sire, and ADV 08-153, his dam. There are also well-known, proven names in his pedigree, such as SYF 10-72, AG’s J8, and AG 98-12.
This bull also ticks the “all-rounder” box. He has well-balanced, above-average selection values with a normal myostatin status.

ROM 23-245 is a half-brother of Lot 11, sharing the same dam, ROM 15-194, and he was bred by uncle Wynand Bester. Everyone strives to breed animals that breed predictably!
Here is such an opportunity, as interested buyers can acquire this bull, who comes from a bull-producing dam. OB 19-44, his sire, was last year’s impressive Lot 10 at Buckridge’s fifth production sale. His sire was bred by Bonka Bonsmara (uncle Johan and Gert Olivier).
He is a structurally correct bull with width, dept, and capacity, and he has a good sheath and testes.
ROM 23-245 has solid data for use on cows, with weaning maternal, weaning direct, and growth data that catches the eye.

Lot 16
SFM 23-07 is a dark red, masculine bull with good skin and hair, well-balanced traits, length and muscling, as well as a strong topline, scrotum and sheath.
He is a fine son of SYF 16-241 (sire) and SYF 10-271 (dam). She was a top donor cow in the SYF/Molopo embryo programme and produced a total progeny score of 392 over nine calves.
SFM 23-07 also has an incredible length-to-height ratio of 1:33.

ROM 23-203 shows good length, muscling and width across his back.
He is a son of AG 16-50. Thanks to his sire, he has a strong head and eye sockets. ROM 23 203 has a nice topline, scrotum and sound hooves, and he is well-filled behind his shoulders.
His dam, ROM 19-270, has a total progeny score of 375 and a weaning index of 111.

BF 23-251 is a dark, masculine bull with long muscling, a good head and shoulder, as well as sound feet and testes.

BF 23-105, highly suitable for breeding weaner calves, is from the exceptional BF 17-258, who is a daughter of VV 12-478 (a five-star bull). Her sire is LAR 18-98.

BF 23-131 is a long-bodied bull with smooth skin and hair, as well as excellent muscling and a beautiful long tail.
He is a son of LEL 16-99, bred by Carey Lee. His dam is a daughter of AG 13-505, who has had a positive impact on the Buckridge herd.

Lot 22
We conclude the bull offering with BF 23-255, a good “all-rounder” with a normal myostatin status.
He is another son of OB 19-44, last year’s Lot 10. His dam, ROM 15-135, produced seven calves in eight years with a total progeny score of 372 days.
