Johanri Dormers stud near Lindley in the Free State is known for outstanding animals that achieve record prices.

According to Johan, the Dormer is the most efficient sheep breed in the world. He is particularly impressed by its maternal abilities, hardiness and adaptability.

The atmosphere in the auction ring was hot, with breeders bidding on top-quality animals and genetics.

The auction results were as follows:

The most expensive ram lot 30 sold for R350 000 to Thornpark Dormers (Stephan Raubenheimer) of Somerset East.

The 2nd most expensive ram lot 37 sold for R140 000 to Dormerific Dormers (Timmy Roberts) from Bloemfontein.

Lot 39 also sold for R140 000 to Johen Trust (Johnny Forbes) of Darling. The average on the rams was R42 860.

The most expensive ewe with lamb lot 58 was sold for R40 000 to Dario Dormers (Hanro Volschenk) from Heilbron. The average on the ewes with lambs was R40 000.

The most expensive pregnant ewes’ lot 59 and 62 sell for R40 000 to Hatari Farming (Marius Eksteen) from Bloemfontein. The average on the pregnant ewes was R22 961.

The average on the commercial rams was R16 333. The average on the commercial ewes with lambs was R6000.

The commercial ewes pregnant with triplets sell for an average of R7500.

The pregnant commercial ewes with twins were sold for an average of R6100. The commercial ewes pregnant with single lambs were sold for an average of R4565. The commercial open ewes sold for an average of R4250.
