South Africa’s agricultural sector is facing one of its most difficult periods in recent years as the ongoing spread of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) continues to place immense pressure on livestock farmers, rural economies and food production systems. For many cattle farmers, the impact extends far beyond livestock losses. It includes affecting family livelihoods, trade opportunities, transport operations and the long-term sustainability of farming communities.

In response to these challenges, ISUZU Motors South Africa has launched the ISUZU NAMPO Foot-and-Mouth Disease Farmer Solidarity Campaign, an initiative aimed at supporting affected livestock farmers while raising awareness around the broader impact of the disease on the agricultural industry.

The campaign officially launched at NAMPO 2026 and will run until 30 May 2026, combining media partnerships, community engagement, radio activations and digital storytelling to encourage farmers to share their experiences and receive meaningful support.

At the heart of the initiative lies a simple but powerful message: “You’re not alone.”

For ISUZU, this is more than a marketing campaign. It is a demonstration of solidarity with the farming community that has long played a vital role in South Africa’s economy and food security. Through the campaign, livestock farmers impacted by FMD are invited to submit their stories via the dedicated online platform.

Selected participants stand a chance to receive financial relief packages and after-sales support aimed at helping them continue operating during a difficult period.

According to the campaign announcement, three selected farmers will each receive a R50 000 cash relief package, while additional entrants may benefit from a share of R100 000 worth of ISUZU after-sales support, including extended warranties and service-related assistance. Interviews, farmer stories and awareness segments are designed to bring national attention to the realities faced by livestock producers on the ground.

Importantly, the initiative reflects a growing shift in how commercial vehicle brands engage with the industries they serve. Rather than focusing solely on products and sales, campaigns such as this highlight the importance of empathy, long-term partnerships and community support – especially during periods of crisis. For many farmers, reliable transport and dependable support structures remain critical to maintaining operations under increasingly difficult conditions. ISUZU’s campaign acknowledges this reality while positioning the brand not simply as a supplier of trucks, but as a long-term partner invested in the resilience of South African agriculture.

As the agricultural industry continues to navigate uncertainty, initiatives like the ISUZU Farmer Solidarity Drive serve as an important reminder that support, visibility and shared responsibility matter. In times of hardship, standing alongside farmers can have an impact that extends far beyond the farm gate.

Farmers wishing to participate in the campaign can submit their stories through the official ISUZU NAMPO platform before the closing date of 30 May 2026.
