Beefmaster Group is calling on South Africa’s top final-year agriculture students to apply for its 2027 bursary programme, with applications closing on 31 August 2026.
The 2027 bursary is open to South African citizens in their final year of study who have an excellent academic record and are pursuing a BSc Agriculture majoring in Agricultural Economics, BSc Agriculture majoring in Animal Science, or B Agriculture majoring in Animal Production, at any of South Africa’s recognised tertiary institutions. The bursary covers tuition, accommodation and books.
The bursary forms part of the company’s commitment to developing skilled young professionals in South Africa’s agricultural arena. Since inception of the programme, Beefmaster has awarded bursaries to more than 20 students, many of whom have gone on to build successful careers in the beef and agricultural sectors. As an example of how investing in education through this programme can translate into meaningful career opportunities, a former bursary recipient is now employed by Beefmaster Group as a Section Manager at its Christiana feedlot.
Cindy Nkgoeng, HR Manager at Beefmaster Group, says this is precisely the kind of long-term impact the company hopes to achieve through the programme.
“Agriculture needs skilled people with the knowledge, passion and commitment to contribute to the future of the sector. By supporting students at this important stage of their studies, we can help remove some of the financial barriers they face while giving them the opportunity to focus on completing their qualifications and using it as a springboard to launch their careers,” she says.
Two bursaries will be awarded for the 2027 academic year.
