The Fleet Safety Awards launched today revealing a number of exciting new innovations and developments. Additionally, as from 6 June 2023, candidates can submit their entry for the first round. The Awards are off to an exciting start already.

The CEO of MasterDrive, Eugene Herbert, says two major changes and innovations were revealed today. “The first of these was the addition of three extra categories along with Best Fleet Manager and Best Company. These categories will create the opportunity to recognise a wider group of individuals and therefore be a stronger driving force to promote and motivate road safety.

“The first of the new categories, Road Warrior, will recognise a driver who embodies road safety. Next is Best Employer to nominate companies that invest in their drivers’ safety on the roads. Lastly, is Best Truck Stop, to show appreciation for rest stops that go the extra mile for long-haul drivers.”

The new entry and judging system was revealed as well. “Following feedback from last year, a specialised entry system was designed. It considerably simplifies the process of submitting an entry and takes the judging process to new levels. Together, this will create an ultimate user experience.

“MasterDrive looks forward to seeing the growth the Awards will see this year. With an overwhelmingly successful inaugural event in 2022 and this year’s innovation, only more can be expected of 2023,” says Herbert.

Anton Cornelissen, head of Santam Heavy Haulage Insurance, one of the headline partners says, “Since our first interaction with MasterDrive it was clear we share the same passion and commitment towards road safety and raising awareness with regards to any aspect affecting the logistics industry in South Africa.

“Our partnership enables us to reach more people and organisations than we can individually. We are now reaching more than just our clients to promote our values. As Santam, we believe this event is going from strength-to-strength, reaching a bigger community with shared values. Every year this will grow,” says Cornelissen.

Castrol is also joining the Awards as a headline partner. Jennifer Heyes, Marketing Director Africa, says: “We are proud to join MasterDrive as one of their headline partners. To promote road safety as the gold standard across South Africa we need the buy-in of each citizen.

“The Fleet Safety Awards is an important way of achieving this. It will motivate and inspire other fleet managers and organisations to follow in the footsteps of others who achieve success at the Awards,” says Heyes.
