With another successful Investing in African Mining Indaba wrapped up in Cape Town, LiuGong has firmly reestablished itself as a preeminent leader in the global mining and construction landscape.

As the industry’s most influential leaders gathered to explore the latest in technology and innovation, LiuGong’s presence served as a powerful testament to the 2026 theme: “Stronger together: Progress through partnerships.”

A legacy built on partnerships

 The cornerstone of LiuGong’s success in Africa lies in its robust collaborative network. Throughout the event, LiuGong highlighted how its strategic partnerships are driving industrial growth across the continent.

Frank Lartey, a West Africa-based construction contractor, highlighted the brand’s legendary durability. “I can proudly say that we bought LiuGong equipment in 2009 and it is still running perfectly,” Frank remarked. Over 1 000 LiuGong machines are currently utilized in high government level projects across his country, driving socio-economic growth as part of the District Road Improvement Programme. Building on this legacy, this company is currently in the process of acquiring LiuGong’s latest green equipment to align with global sustainability goals.

Similarly, South African partner ELB Equipment stood side-by-side with LiuGong at the Indaba. Desmond Van Heerden, CEO of ELB Equipment, emphasised the depth of their relationship and the promising reception of LiuGong’s electric range. “We have come a long way with LiuGong. We already have several green machines in South Africa that have been doing exceptionally well, and ELB Equipment believes there is a massive future for LiuGong in this region,” said Desmond.

Innovation on display: The star of the show

 The LiuGong booth was the undisputed star of the exhibition, drawing crowds with an intricate sand table display that narrated the “LiuGong Story.” This immersive exhibit took visitors on a journey from green mining concepts to complex road construction and everything in between.

The display focused heavily on intelligent, green machinery, showcasing key components of LiuGong’s business model. These include sustainable microgrid solutions, integrating solar and wind power, as well as intelligent operations with collaborative machinery designed for real-world, high-stakes applications.

Versatility across industries

 While the focus was on mining, LiuGong’s exhibition showcased a product range that touches every facet of African development:

  • Forestry: Dominant in West Africa, LiuGong featured loaders and Dozers (equipped with protective body mesh), essential for dragging and transferring logs.
  • Mine development: For topsoil stripping and earthmoving in roadless conditions, LiuGong showcased a powerhouse fleet including heavy-duty excavators, articulated trucks, and dozers.
  • Hard rock mining: LiuGong presented the rapid fragmentation with the RD45-CS drill rig, loading operations with 8128H wheel loader, and material haulage by DE100C dump trucks to an electric mobile crusher for crushing and screening.

Powering the green revolution

 Perhaps the most “game-changing” aspect of LiuGong’s presence was its focus on energy replenishment. Recognising that green machinery requires a green infrastructure, LiuGong introduced:

  • The battery swap truck: Capable of swapping batteries for compatible equipment on-site to minimise downtime.
  • The power delivery truck: A mobile solution providing on-site transmission and charging for pure electric equipment.
  • Advanced charging piles: Dedicated stations for high-capacity wheeled equipment like loaders and mining trucks.

From Concrete Mixer Trucks and Tower Cranes for urban construction to specialised mining fleets, LiuGong proved that they are changing the face of industry. By empowering people with intelligent green technology, LiuGong has ensured that they aren’t just participating in the market, they are leading it into a cleaner, more efficient future.
