Farmers’ needs and farmers’ ingenuity form the basis for solutions that serve farmers through thick and thin. That’s why farmers are so pleased with the equipment that Kanna Industries produces.
Kanna’s founder and owner, Willa Nolte, grew up on a Karoo farm and understands firsthand the unique challenges and opportunities that South African farmers face on a daily basis. This practical knowledge and understanding forms the core of Kanna’s existence: machines designed and manufactured by farmers for farmers.
A product range that puts farming first
Kanna’s wide product range ranges from specialised wool balers to children’s toys and is characterised by practical design, durability and simplicity. Each product plays a specific role in the modern farmer’s arsenal.
Here’s a look at some of their exceptional products:
Automatic hydraulic wool baler: This top model uses a hydraulic cylinder to press wool bales. This increases production capacity and saves on bags, storage space and transport costs.

Electric/hydraulic wool baler: A cost-effective alternative with hydraulic power provided by an electric motor. It is built on the same principles as the automatic wool baler, with the only difference being that the operator must insert the pins by hand.
Semi-automatic industrial wool balers:
The semi-automatic wool baler was designed because wool exporters needed a machine that required little maintenance while producing thousands of bales. The design of the wool baler was kept the same with only a few reinforcements added and the hydraulic system modified.

Bale loaders for hay and cotton
Hay bale loader: This trailer hooks up to your tractor so that bales are loaded directly from the field. The trailer works from the tractor’s hydraulic system and can load between six and nine bales, depending on the size of the bales.

Cotton bale loader: This trailer loads cotton bales with a mass of 2 to 3 tons and is pulled by a 100 kW tractor. Due to the mass of the cotton bales, the loading process takes place while the tractor and trailer are stationary. The loading fork of the cotton bale loader lowers to the ground and then the bale is scooped up on the right side of the loader. A wheel and arm that ejects as soon as the bale is loaded onto the fork prevents the loader from tipping. Once the bale is loaded onto the loader, a conveyor belt moves the bale to the rear of the loader to make room for the next bale. The loader can load four bales with ease.
To unload the four bales, the entire bed of the machine is hydraulically tilted, and the conveyor then moves the bales to the rear of the loader and unloads them one by one. The bales are handled gently to ensure that the plastic wrap does not tear.

V-shaped sheep conveyor
Kanna simplifies small livestock handling with a V-shaped sheep conveyor
This design improves the control the worker has over the sheep, which promotes safety for both humans and animals, and also results in less stress for the sheep during work such as dosing and vaccination. Kanna offers this product in two forms; one which is static and one on wheels so that it can be moved from kraal to kraal more easily.
Other robust equipment designed and manufactured by Kanna includes the general agricultural conveyor that can be used to transport feed bags, bales and other products.
Kanna’s vineyard scraper can be used to level any soil surface. It uses four ripper ploughs at the front to break up hard soil and then levels the ground with the blade that follows behind.
Trailers
Kanna’s high quality trailers are specifically designed for South African roads. They have extra strong axles and parabolic leaf springs. The standard double axel sheep/cattle trailer has gates on the inside as well as on the side and rear for easy access. Kanna also builds custom trailers according to the farmer’s needs.
Kanna’s equipment is designed and built to be efficient, simple, durable and affordable. Visit the website or call Willa at (+27)72-333-1051 or email willa@kannaindustries.co.za for more information about Kanna’s excellent equipment.
