A brand-new Case IH JX45T tractor arrived on Leon Fourie’s farm, Olifantskopboerdery, in Thabazimbi – just because he buys genuine Case IH parts. Leon is the lucky winner of CNH’s Win-a-Tractor competition and he recently collected his prize at the Case IH branch in Thabazimbi.

The Case IH JX45T is a multi-purpose two-wheel drive tractor with a turbocharged three-cylinder engine that delivers 31 kW.

During the handover, David Visser, CNH’s National Head of Parts for South Africa, said the handover was not only about the competition, but about promoting the use of genuine parts.

“Genuine parts ensure maximum reliability and a long life for your equipment to ensure performance and the success of your farming,” David said.

Leon started farming at Koedoeskop, Thabazimbi, thirteen years ago and the very first tractor on his farm was a Case IH JX95 that he bought in 2013. Over the years, he has purchased more Case IH tractors for his mixed farm where he farms with maize, wheat, soya beans and sunflowers.

After entering the competition, he did not think about it again, especially not that he would be the winner.

“We kept entering as we bought parts. I never really thought we could win; there were just too many people entering,” he said.

The competition ran from October to December 2024, and for every R10 000 a customer spent on genuine parts, his name went into a draw. Then the call came one Friday night while they were braaiing meat at home. Leon says he was very excited to win and even checked the online link a few times just to make sure.

Leon believes there is always work for another tractor on his farm and he already knows a few places where he would like to put the tractor to good use. The National Parts Sales Manager for CNH South Africa, Morné Pretorius, says that buying genuine parts is actually a very simple, logical decision.

“CNH parts are of course made by the same factories that make our tractors. They are specifically designed for South African conditions, so this contributes to the longevity of your machines,” he says.

Lourens Moolman, Manager of the Case IH Thabazimbi branch, says he estimates that about sixty of their customers entered the competition and says they were all very excited to hear that the winner came from their branch. Leon has been a loyal customer of this branch, which has been in existence for sixteen years, for seven years. The branch  serves the Ellisras, Dwaalboom, Koedoeskop and Thabazimbi areas, among others.

“What makes Case IH genuine parts so important to us, is that there is always a parts guarantee on everything customers buy from us,” explains Lourens.

At the Case IH Thabazimbi branch, customers are their number one priority. They also make sure they are part of farmers’ days and farmers’ associations to keep their finger on the pulse of their area.

“Case Thabazimbi’s service is excellent, they are very close to us, and you always get the parts you need,” says Leon. “They are fast and always have parts available. The time slot for planting along the Crocodile River is very small because we plant two crops a year, so it is important for us to get fast, good service when we need parts or when our equipment breaks down.”
