If you want to farm from horizon to horizon, you need implements that can do the job. At Northmec Implements (NMI), you can get the large-scale implements you need to make your farming a huge success.

The NMI team was on hand at NAMPO 2025 to help farmers choose the right implements for their farms.

Daniel Dames, Business Manager at Northmec Implements, says when you are serious about chasing hectares, then NMI has the machine for you. Some of the large machines on display at NAMPO included the KELLY tillage system, Geringhoff’s Mais Star maize header, TruFlex fine grain table and Bunning Lowlander 180 spreader.

KELLY

NMI are proud distributors of KELLY tillage systems in South Africa and they supply machines that work from four to twelve metres wide, but if a farmer wants to work even wider, they can import cultivators of up to eighteen metres.

“The machine can be set up for any application or soil type,” says Daniel.

KELLY tillage systems are known for their reduced input costs, weed control, crop residue management and seedbed preparation. This is your all-in-one machine for year-round cultivation.

The system uses a series of discs to perform versatile multi-level cultivations. The KELLY was originally designed for crop residue after harvest, but is also used to level a seedbed, incorporate cover crops and remove weeds. With the KELLY disc rows you can perform a wide range of tillage operations.

Daniel Dames, Business Manager of Northmec Implements, talks about the KELLY tillage systems.

“The big advantage this implement offers you is that it cuts out your first or second sprouts if you use it correctly,” explains Daniel.

The machine pulls out the weeds, root and all, and throws them on top of the ground so the sun burns them to death. Over time, you will see the difference in your fields and according to Daniel, the machine will pay for itself in no time.

Geringhoff

Another large-scale farming implement that NMI imports is the Geringhoff range. NMI imports maize headers of up to 24 rows and wheat tables of up to 15 metres.

Daniel says the main advantage that the Geringhoff maize header offers is that it synchronises the table and the combine, ensuring that your combine always remains at capacity, thereby reducing waste.

The TrueFlex fine grain tables of up to 10 metres have three sections that flex separately to ensure that you harvest all the soya beans on your fields, even if there are contours.

The wobble boxes are placed in the middle of the table to keep the table balanced.

A canola kit is also available for these tables so that Cape farmers can harvest their canola fields.

“According to our research, the waste on this table is also much less than that of some of the competitors, so it puts more money in your pocket,” adds Daniel.

Bunning

NMI also offers one of the best spreaders on the market, the Bunning Lowlander 180 which is imported from England.

“Top Gear put a car in this spreader a few years ago and it cut the whole car to pieces. It shows that this spreader is robust and will last a very long time. It is a spreader built for heavy duty,” says Daniel.

The Bunning Lowlander 180 has a carrying capacity of 18 tonnes and can handle all types of manure and material. With its two vertical augers, the spreader is nicely balanced.
