As part of its ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility, Tiger Chicks supports vulnerable communities through initiatives that promote nutrition, health and social wellbeing. On 9 January this year, Tiger Chicks delivered 50 trays of eggs to House of Hope Africa in Lusaka, Zambia, in support of its feeding programme.

The donation was delivered directly to House of Hope Africa and designated for use in daily meal preparation under the community feeding programme.

The objectives of this corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, aimed at food security and community nutrition, were to:

• Support food security for vulnerable beneficiaries.
• Improve nutrition through the provision of high-quality protein.
• Strengthen partnerships with community-based care institutions.
• Demonstrate Tiger Chicks’ commitment to responsible corporate citizenship.

The donation of 50 trays of eggs has positively impacted the feeding programme at House of Hope Africa by:

• Enhancing the nutritional value of meals.
• Supporting consistent and reliable meal provision.
• Reducing food supply pressures faced by the institution.

Why House of Hope Africa?

House of Hope Africa, a non-profit organisation founded by Michael and Christine Mesiti, is dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable women, children and families in underprivileged communities.

“In our ‘walk’, we have seen so many people simply depleted from the struggle that has become life for them. Whether through poverty, sickness or family breakdowns, they have arrived at a place where there seems to be no
hope and they just can’t go on.

“However, what we have found is that if you help someone see that there is hope in their day, in their future and for their children – that is the seed for change to begin. Talking about hope can motivate people but House of Hope Africa empowers people to get up and go again; keep moving forward into all that God destines them to be … and that is why we do what we do!” says the couple, who relocated from Perth, Australia, to Lusaka in 2014.

By offering advocacy, education and skills training, House of Hope Africa builds meaningful relationships within the community, empowering individuals to grow and fulfill the purpose and potential in their lives. With a strength-based approach, House of Hope Africa lays strong foundations in every community it serves, enabling the successful
implementation of programmes that help break the cycle of poverty.

Therefore, Tiger Chicks saw an opportunity to make a difference in terms of their CSR objective and chose House of Hope Africa, an organisation that remains committed to contributing to sustainable community development through targeted CSR initiatives. The egg donation to House of Hope reflects Tiger Chicks’ continued support for food security, nutrition and social wellbeing within the communities it serves.
